The main conclusion for notification,

1.       Both the Indian Standards, i.e. IS 302 (Part 1): 2008 and IS 302 (Part 1): 2024/ IEC 60335-1: 2020 are under concurrent running till 23rd February 2026.

2.       For new applicants-

Till the end of the current running period, manufacturers can submit applications for a grant of licence as per either IS 302 (Part 1): 2008 or as per revised IS 302 (Part 1): 2024/ IEC 60335-1: 2020;

3.       For existing licensees-

Manufacturers having their products falling under the purview of this QCO and having a voluntary licence for electrical appliances as per safety standards in IS 302 (Part 2) series or as per product standards can opt to change their existing licence to licence as per IS 302 (Part 1): 2008;

4.       Manufacturers taking BIS certification of electrical appliances as per IS 302 (Part 1): 2008 shall be required to changeover to revised IS 302 (Part 1): 2024 / IEC 60335-1: 2020 by the end of the concurrent running date.

For the same, the manufacturer shall be required to submit a test report from third-party BIS-recognized labs for additional parameters and changes as per revised Indian Standards for the models per grouping guidelines issued in the respective product manuals.
