Successful Sixth Meeting of BIS Governing Council Held in Srinagar

The BIS Governing Council met in Srinagar – Srinagar: On Saturday, the sixth meeting of the Governing Council of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) was held successfully in Srinagar. Ashwini Kumar Choubey, Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and Environment, Forestry, and Climate Change, presided over the meeting.

Members of the Governing Council (GC) and senior BIS officials attended the meeting. The Minister and GC members praised BIS’s work in recent years and various initiatives undertaken during the meeting.

Minister Ashwini Choubey also unveiled ten lesson plans for students and teachers as part of the BIS’s “learning science through standards” initiative. “The Lesson Plans have been written in simple and understandable language for the benefit of the students.”

During the meeting, the BIS theme song was also released, as was the “Manak Rath” knowledge sharing and exchange forum. The Exchange forum is intended for knowledge exchange among Standard Clubs, school students, and mentors. During the meeting, the Minister praised the establishment of Standards Clubs across the country. He praised the BIS initiative to map Indian Standards with various schemes implemented by the Government of India, saying it will not only speed up implementation but also benefit the common people of the country.

Pramod Kumar Tiwari, Director General of BIS, stated on the occasion that BIS is creating a quality culture in India through training and connecting district officials, schools, and technical institutes with BIS.

He also stated that BIS has registered over 34000 Manak Mitras who are spreading the quality culture and raising awareness about Standards and the BIS CARE App. He also informed the Council that BIS has expanded its surveillance system to check various ISI-marked products.” Rewrite this material
