India mandates BIS for stainless steel, and aluminum utensils, ensuring safety, and quality in kitchenware

The Government of India has taken a substantial step to enhance kitchen area safety and security, high quality, and performance by mandating compliance with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) for stainless-steel and aluminum utensils. As per the Quality Control Order issued by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, on 14 March 2024, it is now mandatory for such tools to bear the ISI mark, with non-compliance lugging fines. This underscores the federal government’s dedication to ensuring customer security and preserving product honesty.

Recently, the BIS has introduced a series of criteria covering essential cookware.
