GJEPC Facilitates India’s Historic Jewelry Exports via Courier from Mumbai

In a groundbreaking achievement, the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) announced the successful facilitation of India’s inaugural jewelry exports through courier services, originating from the nation’s financial capital. This milestone represents a significant leap forward in streamlining international trade, with far-reaching implications for industry growth, particularly in the burgeoning e-commerce segment, as stated in a GJEPC press release.

On September 6, India marked its first-ever jewelry exports worth USD 1,000, dispatched from Caratlane to the United States.

GJEPC Chairman, Vipul Shah, expressed his gratitude to Mumbai Customs for this historic development, emphasizing its importance amidst the current challenges faced by the industry. The adoption of courier services for exports not only unlocks new market opportunities but also expands the scope of value-added exports by directly reaching retail and end consumers abroad.

Shah further highlighted that utilizing courier services for exports has the potential to slash costs by up to 70% compared to traditional cargo methods, thereby paving the way for numerous jewelry businesses across India to enter the thriving e-commerce landscape.

This pioneering initiative aligns seamlessly with GJEPC’s overarching mission to promote and simplify international trade within the gems and jewelry sector, underscoring its commitment to fostering industry growth and global reach
