FSSAI to Collaborate with Global Food Regulators for Strengthening Food Safety Systems
Introduction: The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), operating under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, is set to host a meeting with international food regulators, including representatives from G20 countries, on July 20-21. The objective of the meeting is to enhance the global food safety system and regulatory framework throughout the food value chain. As the industry expands, ensuring effective implementation of food safety, quality, and regulatory norms becomes paramount.
Embracing Digital Solutions: As part of its initiatives, the FSSAI plans to launch Food-o-Copoeia, the world’s first common digital platform created by a food authority. This online guide will encompass all relevant requirements related to quality, safety, labelling, claims, regulations, and prohibitions for specific food products. By consolidating information in one accessible location, Food-o-Copoeia will facilitate compliance with food safety standards and promote transparency within the industry.
