BIS Launches Initiative to Promote Indian Standards at Panchayat Level

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has launched an initiative to create awareness and promote compliance with Indian standards at the grassroots level. The initiative aims to sensitize Gram Panchayat Presidents and Secretaries across the country about the importance of Indian standards and the benefits of using products that conform to these standards.

BIS has already reached out to over 2.4 lakh Gram Panchayats and has provided them with booklets of important and useful Indian standards. BIS has also initiated training programs for Gram Panchayat Presidents and Secretaries in collaboration with state and district authorities. These training programs are planned to be held at block and district levels through BIS’s nationwide network of 38 branch offices.

The initiative is a significant step towards ensuring that Indian standards are adhered to at the grassroots level. This will help to improve the quality of products and services available to citizens, and it will also help to protect the environment.

Here are some of the benefits of using products that conform to Indian standards:

  • They are of higher quality and more reliable.
  • They are safer to use.
  • They are more energy-efficient.
  • They are more environmentally friendly.
  • They are more durable.
  • They are more cost-effective in the long run.

The BIS initiative is a welcome step towards making Indian standards more accessible to the general public. It will help to raise awareness of the importance of standards and it will encourage people to use products that conform to these standards. This will ultimately lead to a better quality of life for all Indians.

In addition to the benefits mentioned above, using products that conform to Indian standards can also help to:

  • Promote fair trade practices.
  • Protect consumers from harmful products.
  • Support the growth of the Indian economy.
  • Improve the country’s image in the global market.

The BIS initiative is a significant step towards achieving these goals. It is a win-win for everyone involved.
