Fake ISI Marked Water Cans Seized in Tindivanam Plant Raid

In a recent development, a raid conducted by officials from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Chennai, uncovered a disturbing case of counterfeit ISI marked packaged drinking water containers. The operation took place at the Saraswathi Bangajam RO Packaged Water Plant located in Mosalur, Tindivanam.

During the operation, a total of 46 bubble top water cans, which were branded under the name ‘GG Aqua’, were confiscated by the BIS team. These containers bore a fake ISI mark, a crucial certification denoting adherence to Indian quality standards. The incident raises serious concerns about the authenticity of the water being distributed to consumers.

Further investigations revealed that the Saraswathi Bangajam RO Packaged Water Plant was operating without a valid BIS license, a violation that carries significant legal consequences. The offence is punishable by imprisonment of up to two years or a hefty fine of not less than ₹2 lakh.
