6th meet of Governing Council of BIS concludes in Srinagar
Srinagar, June 11: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Governing Council’s sixth meeting came to an end on Saturday. The conference was presided over by Ashwini Kumar Choubey, minister of state for the ministries of consumer affairs, food and public distribution, and environment, forest, and climate change. Senior BIS executives and members of the Governing Council were present at the meeting, where they praised the organization’s recent efforts and numerous initiatives.
As part of BIS’s “learning science via standards” effort, Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey unveiled 10 lesson plans for teachers and students during the conference. These lesson plans have been written in clear, basic language to make it easier for pupils to understand. The BIS theme music was also made public at the meeting, along with the “Manak Rath” knowledge-sharing platform and discussion forum. The goal of the exchange forum is to make it easier for mentors, school students, and members of Standard Clubs to share expertise.
The Minister thanked BIS for connecting Indian Standards with various Government of India programmes and praised the establishment of Standards Clubs across the nation. He emphasised that this alignment will hasten implementation while also gaining the public’s favour.
Director General of BIS Pramod Kumar Tiwari emphasised that BIS is promoting a culture of excellence in India through training and by partnering with local officials, educational institutions, and technical colleges. He added that the BIS has more than 34,000 Manak Mitras registered who are working to spread awareness of the BIS CARE App, standards, and the quality culture. In order to guarantee the quality of items bearing the ISI Mark, Tiwari also briefed the Council about the expanded surveillance system BIS had put in place. He also said that India will soon make over 675 items essential.
Overall, the BIS Governing Council’s sixth meeting in Srinagar highlighted the organization’s recent successes and celebrated its numerous projects. Lesson Plan publication, theme song debut, and launch of knowledge-sharing portal “Manak Rath” all served to highlight BIS’s dedication to advancing standards and quality culture in India.
